From kpatterson2 at fsu.edu Mon Aug 1 15:58:29 2022 From: kpatterson2 at fsu.edu (Keith Patterson) Date: Mon, 1 Aug 2022 19:58:29 +0000 Subject: [Art-instructors] Teaching orientation Message-ID: Please see message from Professor Anne Stagg: Hi everyone, Happy August! As we start gearing up for the semester, I want to remind you that the teaching orientation is right around the corner, August 16th from 9 am - 3:00 pm or so. We are still working on some scheduling details, so those times are approximate. We will send a detailed schedule closer to the date. In the meantime, we need your help with some food planning. We typically serve a very light breakfast and lunch. Before Allison and I weigh our budget against our vendors & ordering options, we would like to find out any dietary restrictions you may have. * Breakfast is often glutenous (bagels/cream cheese & alternative), but we can find another non-glutenous option for those who have allergies. Just let us know! * Additionally, last year we were a bit tight on food, so I want to be sure that everyone who is coming RSVPs for the orientation. I don't want anyone missing their noontime meal! Can you please take this quick poll as soon as possible. Decisions about where to order will be made this week and what to order, specifically, next week. We cannot accommodate your diet if we don't know. Here is the link: * https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfFIsQfwSbhHiuJpFbPmtqyOVfkdal_YFxwMWnToqVuUu1NYg/viewform?usp=sf_link Thanks so much! If it is not possible for some reason, reach out to your supervising Area Head via email to let them know (a) that you are working on it and (b) when you will get it to them. In order to remain in compliance with the University, all syllabi are due to Celeste tomorrow and your Area Head needs to check each syllabus before passing it along. We need time to do this, so we ask that you get them to us by midnight tonight! If you are teaching ANY Foundations class, the syllabus should be sent to both Allison and me. If you are teaching Digital, please send to Allison, me and Kevin. If you are teaching 3D, please send to Allison, me and Marty. All classes now have a template in the share folder (except Success Strategies). You can just make any needed adjustments to the highlighted yellow areas and send those on. Do be sure to check out the course calendar before submitting. If you are teaching outside of Foundations, please send your syllabus directly to: * painting & drawing (everything except Drawing Foundations) to Judy * Photo to Mona * Print to Daniel * Ceramics to Holly * Sculpture to Kevin * Digital Media (but not Digital Foundations) to Tra Thanks so much for your help with this! As always, if I can be of help, please reach out! Though it seems far away now, we need to start planning the Spring 2023 course schedule. To that end, I am providing a link to the form where you can request consideration for teaching. Our enrollment numbers look good in the Foundations Program, so that bodes well for our Spring offerings. I need to have a draft schedule for Spring completed and submitted by September 9th, so please complete this form at your earliest convenience: https://forms.gle/Yn6zfdEkQoyGve8h9 If you want to be considered for teaching in FOUNDATIONS, you must complete this form. I will not schedule anyone who hasn?t officially expressed interest. If you want to be considered for teaching in an area other than Foundations, please reach out directly to the Area Head with the same information you see on this form - but be warned that filling out this form will only provide that information to me. I copied each of the area heads on this email and they are as follows: * Ceramics - Marty Fielding * Painting & Drawing (but not Drawing Foundations) - Judy Rushin * Photo - Mona Bozorgi * Sculpture - Kevin Curry * Digital - Tra Buscaren * Printmaking - Daniel Luedtke * BA Program - Liz Didonna We rely heavily on you and appreciate your many positive energies and efforts greatly!
