I hope your 2021 is off to a nice start! Below is a message from Leah to the Art faculty? Just a few updates and reminders as we head into the spring semester.
Happy New Year! I hope you are all having smooth and productive starts to your spring semester. I am writing with just a little library news to kick off the first week of classes:
* The InterLibrary Loan (ILL) platform will soon get a much needed facelift as part of a system upgrade. The new look will be much cleaner, more accessible, and will have better compatibility with mobile devices. The upgrade has been customized to be align as closely as possible with the content of our current forms, so the way you enter your requests shouldn’t change much (except hopefully it will be an easier and more enjoyable experience 😊). The roll out will happen next week and if you have any technical difficulties after the launch please don’t hesitate to let me know so I can pass them onto ILL right away.
* Fine Arts library and instruction will continue online and asynchronously this spring 2021 semester, just as it did in fall 2020. I have updated my Instruction Program Google Doc to reflect this, so if you are interested in embedding the Canvas modules I have created for each visual and performing arts program into your course sites this semester, see this Doc for direct links: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16TTz4216zxu3keraRytyIp7U1iL-EzynXLk3skwxOh0/edit?usp=sharing
* Please continue to use the materials suggestion form on the main library website to enter requests for library purchase. As a reminder, the end of our ordering period occurs about mid-spring semester each year, with the foreign vendor deadline falling at the end of February and the domestic vendor deadline in late March or very early April. After that point I will not have funds available until shortly after the next fiscal year begins. I’ll let you know as soon as I have the exact ending dates, but in the meantime I encourage you to submit forms for any individual items you may need for this spring as well as summer and fall 2021 curriculum planning and research needs.
* Otherwise, library operations will continue as they did in Fall 2020, including Curbside pickup. See our COVID-19 news page for the latest information on our adapted policies and services: https://www.lib.fsu.edu/news/covid-19
