<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Lato",sans-serif;color:black">Our nonprofit pursues legal means, including litigation, to protect and preserve these public lands and waters within the Public Trust. The "Public Trust Doctrine" is an ancient legal
doctrine, codified in the Florida Constitution, which holds that public lands and waters are held in trust for the use of all people. <br>
<br>
Externs would be working with the Public Trust on a few different matters that could include but may not be limited to: Assisting in bringing of Clean Water Act lawsuits to force polluters to comply with their permits and honor their responsibility to not degrade
our waterways, including the St. Johns River; assisting in the development of a practical operations manual to bring successful Clean Water Act lawsuits; assisting in protecting Florida's trees and other issues related to protecting the scenic beauty of Florida;
assisting with bringing administrative law actions to challenge sewage sludge land application permits; assisting in strengthening the regulation of septic tanks and sanitary sewer overflows; assisting in the promotion of new policies/laws that would assist
in the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) on Agricultural Land including reviewing policies related to Biosolids; and assisting in developing science-based legal action to help restore impaired waterways in Florida.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
