Our own Professor Erin Ryan and Professor Jonathan Adler of Case Western Law will be discussing the Supreme Court's decision in Sackett II, a case with profound implications for protection of water quality under the Clean Water Act. This is not one of the Center's enrichment events, but I nevertheless encourage you to attend what will no doubt be a fascinating discussion between Professors Ryan and Adler. The event will be held in Room 208 at 12:30, with lunch provided. Hope to see some of you there! James Parker-Flynn Director of the Center for Environmental, Energy, and Land Use Law Florida State University College of Law From: Haley Czarnek > Sent: Thursday, March 21, 2024 6:17 PM To: LAW-CareerServices > Subject: LSCA survey, paid leadership roles, and conference/CLE opportunity Hello, My name is Haley, and I am the National Director of Law Students for Climate Accountability (LSCA). We are a law-student led organization that seeks to amplify the roles and responsibilities of the legal industry with respect to climate change. Since our formation in 2020, we have worked to build a movement, urging law students, lawyers, firms and other stakeholders to ask questions, self-educate, and empower one another to forge a future defined by a liveable and sustainable environment. I am reaching out to inquire whether your office would be interested in sharing with your students a national law student survey we are conducting. This survey seeks to better understand how law students understand the legal industry?s role in climate change, and whether or not students at your school have an appetite for the legal industry to do more in addressing climate issues. If desired, we would be willing to share aggregated results from students at your university in July. The survey can be found here: https://form.jotform.com/240456469505259. As an incentive for students to fill out the survey, LSCA will be choosing three students who have filled out the survey at random to receive a $100 Visa gift card. While our organization carries a clear view that the legal industry must do more to address climate change, this survey is intended for informational purposes only. All personally identifiable information will be kept private and will not be shared with any outside advertiser, institution, or organization. We'd also love to invite your students, faculty, staff, and/or alumni to attend our upcoming conference April 12-14, either virtually or in person in New York. The schedule and RSVP link can be found here. Last but not least, we are recruiting for national student leaders, and anticipate offering a $5000 stipend to each member. The application information is available here. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns I can address!
