<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">I am excited to share that Dr. Daniel Leme has joined the Institute for Successful Longevity as our newest Postdoctoral Research Fellow as of June 5, 2025.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Dr. Leme brings exceptional international experience spanning Brazil, Canada, and the U.S., with a strong interdisciplinary background in gerontology, rehabilitation, and public health. Trained as a physiotherapist,
he has extensive clinical expertise in cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, and geriatric rehabilitation, and previously served as a professor in the gerontology and geriatrics program at Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC) in Brazil.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">He earned his Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), where he investigated the clinical, social, and psychosocial factors associated with frailty in older adults. Most recently, he
completed a postdoctoral fellowship in public health at the University of Waterloo, studying the mental and physical health of older adults in hospital and long-term care settings. He also served as a co-investigator on the ICARE4OLD project, an international
initiative to improve care for older adults with complex chronic conditions.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Dr. Leme’s research is grounded in advanced statistical methodologies such as network analysis and machine learning, using data from major studies like the English Longitudinal Study of Aging and the FIBRA
study in Brazil. He has published extensively on frailty, dynapenia, and sarcopenia in high-impact journals.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
