<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121">Like many of you, I am heartbroken by the tragic incident that took place last Thursday on our campus. While I’m grateful to be safe and that those close to me were safe, I know this event has
shaken all of us—students, faculty, staff, and our broader community. My heart goes to those whose who are impacted! </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121"> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121">I want to share something personal: I had initially planned to have a Zoom meeting with ISL staff around noon that day, but I ended up canceling that meeting due to a scheduling conflict. If
that happened, one of our staff had planned to be in the Union for that meeting. I was also on campus that day and had to shelter in my lab with a few others.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121"> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121">Moments like this remind us of the fragility of life and the importance of compassion. We often don’t know the burdens people carry, and I truly believe that if we all extended more kindness,
empathy, and patience to those around us, this world might see fewer acts of desperation and violence.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121"> </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
