<p class="p2"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Broussard was associate dean of Admissions & Career Services at The Heller School at Brandeis University until his stroke in 2011. He could not read, write or speak well but kept a 500-page diary. He “wrote” his
diary using graphs, charts, and metaphorical drawings with text that didn’t make any sense.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="p2"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">At the ISL Brown Bag, at noon March 10 in Room A211 in the Psychology Department Building, he will discuss the process of recovery and how our brains learn from experience-dependent neural plasticity.<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="p2"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Broussard and his company, Stroke Educator Inc., are conducting a national “Aphasia Awareness” campaign to educate people about stroke and aphasia, an impairment of language that is often the result of a stroke.
The campaign is in its fifth year, with more than 200 presentations at 25 states so far.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
