results of his study will be used as preliminary data for a grant proposal to be submitted to the National Institutes of Health. His co-PI is Teng Ma, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering in the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.<o:p></o:p></span></li></ul>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">The ISL Planning Grants are designed to promote collaboration among FSU research faculty, so the winning proposals include researchers from different disciplines. In addition, the program is modeled on the
FSU Council on</span> Research and Creativity’s planning grant program and is seen as a first step toward collecting data leading to federal funding.<o:p></o:p></p>
