From: Kyle Smith Sent: Monday, February 5, 2024 10:38 AM To: Neil Charness Subject: Equipment Infrastructure Grant Interest Hey Neil, Nice to e-meet you! I am a new assistant prof and ISL affiliate. I was wondering if I could send the below email out to affiliates (or if you could, if that is more appropriate?). I am trying to acquire an automated hematology analyzer and I think there may be interest within the ISL. Many thanks, and message pasted below: Colleagues, I am planning on submitting an Equipment and Infrastructure Enhancement Grant (EIEG) on Feb 29th to obtain an automated hematology analyzer, as we do not seem to have one on campus approved for human blood samples. I have requested a few quotes, but I expect it to be around $30k-$40k. Is this something you would be interested in using/contributing to? The machine would likely be housed at the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine, and accessible to PIs who would like to generate data from it. Below is the type of data that will be generated (CBC, WBC differential, HGB, etc.) [cid:b84196e7-9cad-41ed-b302-be669c37b2bb] Please let me know if you are interested, or if you have any contacts in other departments who may be interested. March 16 is the deadline for applications for the Esther & Del Grosser Scholarship application for Graduate Students. It is a short application by you on behalf of a student and is typically a $1000 award presented at Poster Day. You can apply at: https://fsu-estherdelgrosser.smapply.us/prog/esther_del_grosser_scholarship_2024/ 1. March 28 1-3 pm is Graduate (and Postdoctoral) Student Poster Day in the Atrium of the Psychology Department. Please email charness at psy.fsu.edu if you will have a student presenting so that we can order the right number of poster boards. This is a great event with prizes for best poster ($100, $50, $25) and an opportunity for students to see the range of aging research at FSU by ISL affiliates and students. If a student has presented a poster on an aging-related topic recently at a conference they can recycle it here. 1. ISL Interdisciplinary planning grant deadline is March 26. You and someone not in your discipline (need not be an ISL affiliate) can apply for one of up to three $25,000 pilot grant awards at: https://isl-fsu-sm.smapply.us/ Best, Neil Neil Charness, Ph.D., William G.
