Dear colleagues and friends,

I hope this message finds you well! I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome I have received following my appointment as the Interim Director of ISL. I am honored to take on this role and excited about the opportunity to contribute further to our vibrant community. We believe that ISL will take a critical role for aging research at FSU, leveraging our track records of supporting interdisciplinary research. ISL stands at the forefront of groundbreaking research into aging, serving as a vital hub for scholarly activities that aim to unlock the secrets of living well into advanced age. I envision ISL to continue its mission of supporting interdisciplinary teams that can both advance aging research and improve the quality of life of our aging population.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Neil Charness for his kind introduction and to the Provost’s office for their support in this new capacity. It is a privilege to lead ISL that is so crucial to advancing the science and application of longevity, and I am eager to build on the strong foundation that has been laid before me.

I am deeply appreciative of the support from each of you—my colleagues, our students/trainees, the advisory board, and our stakeholders in the community. Your dedication to the institute and its mission is what truly drives our success. I look forward to collaborating with you all to continue our work towards innovative solutions that enhance the lives of individuals at all stages of life.

Thank you once again for your encouragement and confidence in my abilities. Please feel free to reach out to me with any ideas, concerns, or opportunities for collaboration that you believe could help further our mission.

Warm regards,

Zhe He, PhD, FAMIA

Hi Folks:

Thought I would let you know the good news that Zhe He has agreed to serve and has now been appointed by the Provost’s office as the Interim Director of ISL today. Congratulations Zhe!

For those not familiar with Zhe, he is an Associate Professor in the I-School within the College of Communication and Information (CCI). He has an outstanding publication and grant record and just received a new AHRQ grant to help produce support tools for users of web portals that provide test results to patients (LabGenie project).

He was hired initially in a faculty line made available by the Provost to CCI to help buttress the then new Institute for Successful Longevity so has a long association with ISL.

Please join me in welcoming Zhe to his new role!

Best, Neil
