If this is not in your specific area, but you have colleagues who may be interested, please pass along. Although our office has shared this opportunity, please confirm the deadline and your eligibility before working on a proposal. If this announcement relates to a solicitation from a federal agency that may have updates on this notice, sign up at grants.gov to receive updates. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Resource Networks for Protein Polymorphisms in Alzheimer?s Disease and its Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites U24 Cooperative Agreement applications aiming to establish several mis-folded protein polymorphisms resource networks in the area of Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). The central goal of these resource networks is to standardize and distribute seed, oligomers, and fibrils to other investigators in order to clarify and improve the reproducibility of experiments in AD/ADRD. For the past several years, many studies have developed assays and reagents to understand the biophysical properties of various tau and A? structural variants such as oligomers, protofibrils, and fibrils. As a result, many imaging, chemical, and immunological tools have been developed to detect different types of A? and tau polymorphs. Establishing standards, understanding the pathological roles of these protein polymorphs, and using newly developed analytic tools to address the direct correlation between patient-to-patient variations in A? and tau polymorphs are the long-term goals of the resource networks supported by this FOA. Broussard was associate dean of Admissions & Career Services at The Heller School at Brandeis University until his stroke in 2011. He could not read, write or speak well but kept a 500-page diary. He ?wrote? his diary using graphs, charts, and metaphorical drawings with text that didn?t make any sense. Broussard regained his language and wrote the first three volumes of the Stroke Diary series: ?Stroke Diary, A Primer for Aphasia Therapy,? ?Stroke Diary, The Secret of Aphasia Recovery,? and ?Stroke Diary, Just So Stories, How Aphasia Got Its Language Back? (Gold 2018 FAPA President?s Book Award.) At the ISL Brown Bag, at noon March 10 in Room A211 in the Psychology Department Building, he will discuss the process of recovery and how our brains learn from experience-dependent neural plasticity. Broussard and his company, Stroke Educator Inc., are conducting a national ?Aphasia Awareness? campaign to educate people about stroke and aphasia, an impairment of language that is often the result of a stroke. The campaign is in its fifth year, with more than 200 presentations at 25 states so far. Please distribute to your membership as promptly as possible. Best, Jean >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dear Colleagues: NSF conducted a webinar on February 6, 2020, covering the significant changes to the Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 20-1). The webinar is now available for on-demand viewing. The new PAPPG will be effective for proposals submitted or due, and awards made, on or after June 1, 2020. Significant changes include: * NSF will require use of an NSF-approved format in submission of the biographical sketch and current and pending support documents, once the PAPPG (NSF 20-1) becomes effective; o NSF is partnering with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to use SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae as an NSF-approved format for preparation of both documents. o Use of an NSF-approved format will not be required until implementation of PAPPG 20-1 on June 1, 2020. o To assist the community, NSF has developed websites with additional information for the preparation of the biographical sketch and current and pending support. * New requirement for proposing organizations to submit government-wide representations and certifications in the System for Award Management (SAM); * New requirement for providing e-mail documentation of Program Officer approval for the submission of RAPID and EAGER proposals; and * Clarifications to current and pending support coverage as well as other changes throughout the document. You are encouraged to review the by-chapter summary of changes provided in the Introduction section of the PAPPG. While this version of the PAPPG becomes effective on June 1, 2020, in the interim, the guidelines contained in the current PAPPG (NSF 19-1) continue to apply. Grant Funding Opportunity to Share with Your IG Members Reply to Group Reply to Sender [Gena Schoen] Feb 27, 2020 5:35 PM | [attachment] view attached Gena Schoen Hello Conveners, Here is information about a grant funding opportunity from the Mayer-Rothschild Foundation that some of you may want to share in your interest group communities. The Mayer-Rothschild Foundation has opened a call for letters of intent in response to its Designation of Excellence in Person-Centered Long-Term Care RFA. The Foundation seeks to develop systems, methods, measures, tools, and processes for identifying superior practices in the care of older adults living in long-term nursing homes, independent and assisted living communities, and dementia and memory care residences. Ultimately, the Designation of Excellence award will become a touchstone for the industry and a way for the public to recognize excellence and person-centered practices and values at these care communities. The Mayer-Rothschild Foundation Designation of Excellence in Person-Centered Long-Term Care will have four funding cycles, each one twelve-months long. Over a four-year period, these funding phases will allow for planning, discovery, validation and launch milestones. Eligible applicants must be faculty at a United States, land-based college or university and prepared to serve as a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), partnering with a Co-PI at a not-for-profit 501(c)3 nursing home institution. They will need to collectively have the capacity and vision to co-design, pilot test, bring to scale and sustain the Designation of Excellence standards on a broad national scale and able to serve as co-PIs in conceptualizing and operationalizing The Mayer-Rothschild Designation of Excellence in Person-Centered Long-Term Care. Letters of Intent for Phase I of the award are due by May 1, 2020. After careful review of the Letters of Intent, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. The full proposal will be due August 15, 2020. Find more information here. ------------------------------ Gena Schoen Membership Manager The Gerontological Society of America gschoen at geron.org ------------------------------ Reply to Group Online View Thread Recommend Forward You are subscribed to "Interest Group Conveners and Committee" as charness at psy.fsu.edu.
