Ellen -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Marine Science Instructor Positions for Recent Graduates Date: Tue, 16 Nov 2021 22:32:14 +0000 From: Brittany Swanwick To: granger at bio.fsu.edu Hi Ellen! The Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) is looking for recent college graduates who are passionate about science and working with children!? Our two CIMI facilities, Fox Landing and Toyon Bay, are looking for marine science instructors to teach schoolchildren in grades 4-12 about marine science, as well as lead them on outdoor adventures including snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking.? Our programs provide a valuable stepping stone to young scientists who are interested in continuing on to graduate school or pursuing a career in education.? Our instructors have the opportunity to share their love and knowledge of science with children, allowing them to develop valuable skills for communicating difficult science concepts in layman?s terms.? They guide students on snorkels over our southern California rocky reefs, on kayak trips over kelp forests, and through our marine science labs with live animals in aquaria.? Additionally, instructors grow as individuals and employees in a supportive work environment that allows for creativity and innovation.? Many of our staff continue on to graduate school, research, or teaching careers after leaving us, and they have all benefitted from the skills and experiences gained while working at our facilities. If you know of any recent or soon-to-be graduates who may be interested in a position with us, please share the attached flyer with them.? We are looking for candidates who would be available to start on or about January 4^th , 2022.? The hiring manager (also listed on the flyer) is the Toyon Bay Program Director, Jeff Chace, who can be reached for further questions atjeff at cimi.org . If there is someone else at FSU who would be more appropriate to contact with this information, please let me know so that I may reach out to them. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
