From koclanan at eckerd.edu Wed May 1 08:09:34 2019 From: koclanan at eckerd.edu (Alyssa Koclanes) Date: Wed, 1 May 2019 08:09:34 -0400 Subject: [Fla-facrlboard] Experienced Conference Buddy Needed at the 2019 FLA Conference! Message-ID: Dear Fellow FACRL Board Colleagues, As you may know, I am chairing the FLA Conference Committee this year. We had a wonderful response to the conference buddy program this year and 22 new conference attendees are participating! However, we still need just one more experienced conference buddy to match a new attendee with. The conference buddy program provides new attendees the opportunity to connect with conference "pros" and learn how to take advantage of all the great opportunities available at the conference. As FACRL Board Members, I know all of you would be fantastic buddies to a new conference attendee! If you will be attending the conference, please consider being a conference buddy to a new conference attendee if you haven't already signed up. Thank you to Lauri, Michael, and Kim for already volunteering to be a Conference Buddy! Once matched with a buddy, you would connect with them over email in advance of the conference and then ideally schedule a time to meet up with them at the conference. Just let me know if you are able to be a conference buddy and please fill out this short form with your information so you can be matched with a buddy. Please let me know if you have any questions. We met with our colleagues at NSU on Tuesday, who have graciously made all of our logistical, room reservation, and technical support arrangements as our host for the conference. A big thank you again to Jaime Goldman, who continues lead so many of our projects (Thank you Jaime!). If you, or anybody else, has any questions or require additional information please let me know and I?ll provide some notes ahead of the meeting. Some quick updates: Since my original email we have confirmed Elijah Scott as our keynote. We will also feature an ACRL workshop ?Project Outcome for Academic Libraries? . Lastly, dear board colleagues, if any of you are interested in submitting proposals we would love to have you. Here are my two cents: 1. I think this definitely qualifies as a legitimate item of interest for Florida academic librarians that we want to support, so I would suggest that you are free to send it out to the FACRL list in order to help market the conference. 1. It would be great for FACRL to have a presence at the conference, even if it is just an outreach table or providing promotional materials. Is anyone interested in submitting an FACRL proposal to present? We can discuss other ideas to support as well. 1. That sounds great! 1. Maybe we could make the streaming available more broadly? Maybe we could ask the FLVC to market this out to their lists as well? Thanks! [Broward College] Craig Amos? I agree with Alyssa that it sounds like a great conference. You might reach out to FLA to determine if you can send information about the conference to their list as well. Also, since you are hosting the ACRL Project Outcomes up north, it may be a good marketing piece to add that those who are unable to attend the FACRL pre-conference in south Florida will still have the opportunity to participate in Project Outcomes regionally. I will look for the call for proposals and can send it to our librarians here and maybe we can discuss closer to the conference what kind of FACRL presence or marketing materials we might be able to provide. Well, it?s happening and I?m pleased to share information about the inaugural Panhandle Academic Libraries Conference below. We?ve also created a website herehttps://www.plan.lib.fl.us/events/panhandle-academic-libraries-conference/. A few questions for you: 1. Do you have any ideas for promoting the conference? Would you be open to sharing this on the FACRL mail list? 2. Does FACRL want to participate/sponsor in any way? 3. The conference is open to all, so please feel free to submit proposals and register. Registration is free, and we?re hoping for sponsorship to cover meals and coffee break. 4. I?ll also keep you updated on the final schedule. We?re hoping to offer a couple of streaming sessions, incl. a keynote by Elijah Scott. Let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. We now need your help documenting ACRL?s accomplishments over the past year. Thank you for ensuring that the work of your chapter is properly represented. By Friday, July 19, please use the online form to report the activities, programs and initiatives that your chapter carried out in support of the ACRL Plan for Excellence from July 2018 through June 2019. Chapters who do not submit the report may not be eligible for fiscal year 2020 funding. Suggestions for preparing your report: * Please review the ACRL Plan for Excellence before submitting your chapter's report to ensure you select the strategic objective that best matches your chapter?s activities/programs/initiatives. * This report should cover chapter activities/programs/initiatives completed July 2018 through June 30, 2019. * Please review the Plan for Excellence Implementation Report template. Note: This PDF is for reference purposes only. Unit reports must be submitted into the online form. Submitting your report: * Submit responses through the online form. * Please do not report the same activity/program/initiative more than once. While an activity may fit into multiple areas, please select the area it best matches. * If you do not have any activities to report for a specific strategic objective, it?s okay to simply leave that section blank. * There are no character limits and each section can expand. To submit the report, you must click through each page (even if you don't have activities to report) until the final page where there is a "Submit" button. Reports should be submitted by Friday, July 19. In late August, staff will notify units when synthesized reports are available. Need a starting point? Please let me know if you would like to view your chapter?s report from last year. Thank you very much for your work over the past year. If you have any questions about the report, please let me know.
