Yes, it would be because it hasn’t been registered with them, I suspect. I’m not sure who handles the FACRL mailing list—does anyone on the board know?
Thanks.
Becky

Hi Becky,

This bounced when I tried to send it to the FACRL list, not sure if it is having trouble with my new address.

Thanks!
Craig

Hi Becky,

I thought this was a great idea and that is a tough lack of response. Did the authors receive detailed guidelines or content structure/outline suggestions for submission? Maybe we could re-approach them with specifics and a short rationale of the significance of the submission along with a sense of urgency that we are past the deadline.

I’d be happy to approach them each individually with a new notice (I unfortunately do not really know any of them personally) and maybe if we could make it easy by giving them an example or template, it would encourage them to submit? I thought this was a really great way to encourage professional content in the conference, so maybe we could give it one more push?

How can I help?

Thanks!
Craig

Hi all,

This is disappointing. I sent the authors a reminder message about a month or 6 weeks ago. Do any of you have personal relationships with any of the authors? It may be better for them to hear from a personal colleague than from me again. If not, I’ll poke them again. I am hesitant to enter into another publication agreement under these circumstances—both conferences netted small results for The Reference Librarian.

Becky: To date, we have received only one completed article, by Christie Moran, from the Fall ACRL meeting. We received a "how we do it good at UNF" piece from the UNF folks and asked for extensive revisions, to turn it into an article. At least one other group asked for an extension to May 6.
So, the short of it is that we won't be able to publish a special issue in the near future, and unless we receive at least 3 more pieces, never.
I don't know if a message from you would galvanize the potential authors, and I'm not sure that they are even galvanizable. However, we leave it to you to intervene if you can.

Thanks, wm
