ACRL is once again happy to offer up to ten chapter visits for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, allowing chapters to take further advantage of the program and its slate of distinguished speakers eager to share ideas. 2019-2020 Officers [https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.ala.org/acrl/sites/ala.org.acrl/files/content/volunteer/KarenMunro_cropped*20smaller*20version.jpg__;JSU!5Xm4_O-4tfk!jVKhh-3DYOI7PB8I0_nwxT0hpnRywqPWFBTFTSRbVZFUfxIqTUj8jil4rRgVsX_dQv2mI0n5-Q$ ] Karen Munro ACRL President 2019-2020 Associate Dean of Libraries, Learning and Research Services Simon Fraser University [https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.ala.org/acrl/sites/ala.org.acrl/files/content/Cawthorne_Jon_*20*28002*29_0.jpg__;JSUl!5Xm4_O-4tfk!jVKhh-3DYOI7PB8I0_nwxT0hpnRywqPWFBTFTSRbVZFUfxIqTUj8jil4rRgVsX_dQv1HOee1dA$ ] Jon E. One possible initial suggestion is that we could have an academic track and have it highlighted/marketed within the program throughout the conference. I know that FLA already does highlight sessions by topic/library type, so this might be more of a marketing effort/accessibility piece/idea to make it easier for academic library professionals to show relevance to their administrations with shrinking budgets. We had also talked about maybe having our conference team directly support the FLA conference committee and have a rep. on the committee who could promote good communication and share ideas. If we did want to sponsor a pre-conference, maybe we could bring a peer review process for that. And we had talked about maybe having a recurring workshop on getting published I believe. I would be up for discussing this and working to pull a quick proposal together if others think we should do it. One idea I can offer in terms of subject matter is Research Data Management and perhaps a discussion/hands on class on what academic libraries are doing in this area to support their faculty and students. We will try to be in touch soon with a proposal for FLA and thank you again for your partnership. DO NOT click links or open attachments unless you are expecting the information and recognize the sender. ________________________________ Hi All, Dough forwarded me the relevant emails, turns out he never put my email into his committee email shortcut in Outlook, which is why I haven't been receiving anything about the local arrangements committee recently! I have complied the hotel room block information in one document and the information that includes catering costs for FACRL in a separate spreadsheet. For two of the hotels, some additional information is needed (reservation link and reservation cut off date) which is highlighted in yellow in the document. I did not receive pricing information for a shuttle yet but all of the hotels have free airport shuttles. What was the shuttle going to be used for? For the NSU Catering, I wasn't sure if anything specific had been selected yet so I just went with the Artisan Sandwich board so we could get an idea of pricing for one of the lunch options (it is $11.99 per person). There seems to be several vegetarian options (and I think vegan too but that needs to be confirmed) for the sandwiches and side salad option. The hot buffet lunches are more expensive, between $16.99-$19.99 per person. I also added in a continental breakfast option and snack break but I am not sure about the break times as I haven't seen a draft schedule for Friday recently, not sure if we want snacks (or at least extra beverages) at both breaks or just one. Please feel free to add any additional information to the hotel document or the catering pricing spreadsheet.
