From caskeyr at scf.edu Thu Dec 2 09:31:57 2021 From: caskeyr at scf.edu (Caskey, Rebecca) Date: Thu, 2 Dec 2021 14:31:57 +0000 Subject: [FCLCA] Succession plan for tutors? Message-ID: Good morning, everyone! Many on my full-time tutor team have indicated the desire to gain professional development to either get a raise or move into a higher position within the college. However, we don't have a strong track for that. Does anyone have a tiered system for tutor salary based on experience or gained expertise on the job? (Many of our tutors continue taking higher level coursework to increase their repertoire of subjects to tutor.) Or does anyone have a system in place to assist tutors in developing skills for other academic positions within the college? With the subjects being so diverse, I'm having trouble structuring a proposal that is objective. I hope your semesters are winding down smoothly. Thanks in advance for any help! In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hi Rebecca, Not sure if you got any responses to this. At FAU, we have a standard starting pay for our peer tutors ($13/hour). They get increases each semester upon successful completion of the CRLA training and required components. So second semester tutors typically make $13.50 upon completion of Level I; third semester at $14 upon completion of Level II and they max out at $15/hour in their fourth semester after completion of Level III requirements. We do require completion of training requirements for rehire, however we do have students in some lower utilization courses that might remain at the same level due to not reaching the minimum number of tutoring hours. We do have a few professional tutors. They are all paid $15/hour with a bachelor's degree or $20/hour with a graduate degree. They cannot be enrolled as a student to earn those and we have VERY few - only for a few select courses where we don't have qualified student applicants. Hope that helps!
