The lecture will be given by Prof. Alex Purves (UCLA) who will speak on "Deep Blue Homer: Underwater Worlds in Greek Myth and Poetry." Professor Purves has published widely on Greek literature, including the books Space and Time in Ancient Greek Narrative (Cambridge University Press 2010) and Homer and the Poetics of Gesture (Oxford University Press 2019). She is also the recipient of UCLA's Distinguished Teaching Award. The Hunter Lecture is intended specifically for undergraduate students, and we hope to see you there! Interested in being involved in FSU student leadership? The College of Arts and Sciences Student Leadership Council is seeking to recruit members in Classics. Join two FSU alumni currently teaching Latin at Leon County public schools -- Alex Ramsay, Lincoln High School, and Robert Amstutz, Rickards High School -- and learn about the education job market, teacher certification, and careers in Latin teaching.
