From tluke at fsu.edu Wed Sep 1 09:59:36 2021 From: tluke at fsu.edu (Trevor Luke) Date: Wed, 1 Sep 2021 13:59:36 +0000 Subject: [Discipuli] Mensa Latina Message-ID: Salvete, amici! The Beginning Latin instruction team is instituting what we hope will be a new part of our departmental culture: Mensa Latina. Mensa Latina is a free Latin tutoring service located outside the Thompson Library. Anyone with Latin chops sufficient to help Beginning Latin students is invited to volunteer their time at the Mensa Latina. Volunteers commit to sit at a table outside Thompson during your scheduled slot. To kick off this new tradition, I am sitting at the Mensa Latina every Wednesday morning from 8 to 9 am. See the attached schedule and please contact me with your availability so I can add you to the schedule. Best wishes, TL Dr. Trevor S. Course registration for Spring 2022 begins October 11. Now is a good time to check your remaining statewide and FSU/Liberal Studies requirements on myFSU. To schedule an advising meeting about your Classics major program requirements, please contact Mr. Chris O'Neal (coneal at fsu.edu) if your estimated graduation is Fall 2023, Spring 2024 or later, and contact me if you expect to graduate in Spring 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023 (junior/senior status). I'll have "drop-in" advising hours in my office, 325 Dodd: Tuesday 9/28, 9:00am-12:00pm Friday 10/1, 1:00-2:30 pm Tuesday 10/5, 9:00 am-12:00 pm Friday 10/8, 1:00-2:30 pm Or over Zoom by appointment Mondays and Wednesdays after 1:00, or various times Thursday 9/30 and 10/7. Please choose whatever option you prefer; following FSU's guidelines, masks are expected for indoor in-person meetings (and as a caregiver for both my young child and elderly mother, I very much appreciate your help here). We can also "meet" over email exchanges if that's best for you. Happy first day of Fall -- and I'm looking forward to speaking with you! Prof. Clark Jessica H. Excess credit hours are calculated differently depending on whether you entered FSU before 2019 or after, so be sure you're getting the information that applies to you: https://registrar.fsu.edu/records/excess_hours/ Have you checked with Arts & Sciences that you are on track for graduation? This online requirement check is usually initiated when you reach 75 credits (generally in your junior year), and you receive an automated email to complete it (which links you to https://artsandsciences.fsu.edu/students/academic-progress-check). If you're planning to graduate this spring and you wish to reach out to your Academic Dean?s Office for verification of graduation requirements, email as-advising at fsu.edu with your specific questions once your final Spring 2022 schedule is in place. If you will complete all your degree requirements in Spring 2022, be sure to apply for graduation via my.fsu.edu starting Jan 28. As ever, be in touch with any questions or if you'd like to meet this week or next. Best wishes, Prof. Clark Jessica H.
