From tluke at fsu.edu Sun Nov 14 12:35:17 2021 From: tluke at fsu.edu (Trevor Luke) Date: Sun, 14 Nov 2021 17:35:17 +0000 Subject: [Discipuli] CAMWS Latin Translation Contest Message-ID: Tomorrow is the deadline to register for the CAMWS College Latin Translation Exam. See attached file and https://camws.org/CollegeTranslationContest I highly encourage everyone who is eligible to register and give it a try. You have nothing to lose, and it is an excellent opportunity to put your skills to the test. Registration is $2, and I think you have to tack on another $2 if you register individually using PayPal. The registration fee is to cover administration costs. The exam is offered on the Intermediate and Advanced levels. Intermediate is open to everyone who has had roughly a year of college Latin. If you have done LAT 1121, you should try the exam. If you are close to finishing LAT 1121, why not try it? I would say that the Advanced is more for those who are in their fourth semester or beyond that. The top five Intermediate exams will receive a $100 cash prize. The top five Advanced exams will receive $250. The next tier of ten will receive free books, and below that many will receive certificates of commendation. Any of these prizes would be a feather in your cap and look good on your resume, whether you plan to do anything after college with your Latin or not. How many people win Latin translation awards? Please contact Ava Romano (alr19d at my.fsu.edu) or Benjamin Ream (btr19c at my.fsu.edu) for more information. It is my understanding that they are organizing a Google form for registration. You might want to check into that. Give it a go! Dr. Luke Dr. Trevor S.
