I hope you are all managing in the wake of the tragedy we faced this past Thursday. I wanted to update you all about the next week, particularly due to the events that were planned during it.

COGS Meeting – After receiving the okay from Student Affairs, we will still meet on Monday at 6:30pm in the Senate Chambers. In initial conversations with several of you, it seems that there is a wish to not allow the act
of a coward to prevent us from doing the work of the graduate students and celebrating the service of our graduating members. However, I fully understand that many of you may not yet be comfortable with returning to the Union at this time. Therefore, we will
be arranging to have a Zoom option for the meeting and should send out the link for that on Monday. Additionally, any absence will immediately be considered as excused. We will need 15 representatives to be in attendance in order to make quorum. I will also
ask that we do hold roundtable at the end of the meeting so members have the chance to say anything they need to after the stress and pain we have suffered over the past few days, though members should feel free to pass if they do not wish to speak.

Finals Food Trucks – After discussions with members and SGA leadership, we will also be continuing with our two food truck events this week. I will discuss this more on Monday, but my main rationale is that I believe these
two events provide the student body with what is needed in these times: a space where we can hug our friends, chat with a student we’ve never met before about their work, and enjoy a free meal from a friendly face. I have also been in conversation with Senate
and SGA Exec and we have decided to collaborate on expanding one or both days into an event that support more members of the student body. I hope to have more information on this collaboration on Monday.

Thank you all for the work you do, day in and day out, to make this university a better place. Please take care of yourselves over the coming days and, especially in these times, please do not hesitate to call, text, or email me if you
need to talk about anything. I am here for you all and love y’all.
