-MPHSA Fall Hooding Ceremony for MPH Graduates<br>
-----Date (12/09/21).<br>
1) Monthly Meetings/Seminars: Open to all FSU students. Updates and events discussed about the MPHSA to promote involvement during the meeting portion. Mentorship program updates discussed and recognition for students who are doing good things within our
FSU community. After the meeting is adjourned, a guest speaker will present themselves for an hour about a public-health related topic and their career.<br>
2) Journal Clubs: Open to all FSU students. The Research & Development Chair will choose a few Public-health topics throughout the semester that students will do research on or find a journal article about and present their findings when journal club meets
up. This promotes research, peer networking, and provides a safe/informal space for students to practice presenting their research.<br>
3) Volunteer events: Currently searching for volunteer opportunities for students to become involved with in the Tallahassee area and FSU campus for Fall relative to Public Health. We have a running document that lists who we've reached out to and have set
dates for certain events. Ex: The Alzheimer's Project is hosting a "Forget Me Not Walk" in November that students can sign up for to assist at. They also have weekly needs for volunteers helping with the Alzheimer clients in their respite rooms. We would like
MPHSA t-shirts to be worn at all events on and off campus. We will have about 50 incoming MPH students and I am going to push volunteering hard at the beginning of the year and remain consistent by providing them with sufficient time about the event dates<br>
4) MPHSA Hooding Ceremony: The Fall Hooding Ceremony is an honorable event where MPH students graduating that semester will be hooded by the MPH Director, Dr. Burdette. At this ceremony, it will also be a social event with guest speaker, Dr. Shamarial Roberson
(Deputy Secretary for Health of State of Florida) giving a speech to all that attend. The ceremony is open to all FSU students at the FSU Alumni Center Grand Ballroom and will be presented by Andrew's Catering (required food caterer). The venue typically costs
$2,000, but we have secured the space for free. FSU faculty members and students will be present with approximately 16 graduates as of now. We expect about 100 people present at this event.<br>

The MPHSA is trying to collect a majority of our funding through the COGS process. However, we are trying our best to receive outside funding using an off-campus bankout through share-nights with local Tallahassee restaurants, donations from restaurants
such as Starbucks (going to donate coffee to meetings), and other donations. So far, we have been in contact with a number of restaurants to secure opportunities for funding this semester. We have secured the MPH department to fund our Fall Welcome Social.
By 7/1, we have received over $400 worth of funding and I hope that our others efforts will help us raise a few more hundred dollars. All events we host are free to FSU students.<br>
