Grant Foundation Award Grants to Three Partnerships Addressing Social Issues The William T. Grant Foundation, Spencer Foundation, and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation are delighted to announce the winners of the 2022 Institutional Challenge Grant competition. The Institutional Challenge Grant encourages university-based research institutes, schools, and centers to grow existing research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations in order to reduce inequality in youth outcomes. Equally important, grantee institutions must shift their policies and incentives to value collaborative work and enhance the capacity of the partner organization to use evidence from research in its decision-making. ? The newest grants, amounting to nearly $1,950,000, are being awarded to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; Florida State University and Florida A&M University; and Georgia State University. These institutions will work in partnership with local nonprofits or public agencies to build mental health supports for Black youth in workforce development program outcomes, reduce education disparities, and reduce inequalities in post-secondary debt. When it came down to selecting a school to receive my master's in Educational Leadership and Administration, there was no question that Florida State would be my #1 pick. I received my undergraduate degree from FSU in 1997, so returning to receive my master's degree was like coming back home. Not to mention, FSU's online Educational Leadership and Administration program is ranked #3 in the United States according to this year's U.S. News and World Report rankings. There's no other school I would rather attend. My favorite part of the Education Leadership and Administration program is the virtual Fireside Chats held periodically throughout the semester. Since this program is online, the chats give students an opportunity to interact with professors and ask questions. It is also nice to connect with other students in the course. After I graduate, I plan to apply for a position as an assistant principal within my district. I hope to get the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience gained through the master's program to touch the lives of more than just the students I teach in my classroom each day. I would love to extend my reach and impact a school and community. Have news to share? ?We'd love to hear from you!
