In addition to the aforementioned qualities and my love for the university, I chose the FSU College of Education distance learning program in Educational Leadership/Administration because it provided me with opportunity to make a real difference in the educational arena while allowing me to continue to fulfill my roles as a husband, father, friend, and business owner. Professionally, I work as a licensed mental health therapist for a large school district and as an owner of a consulting firm. I have authored several children books that are awaiting publication. I also create motivational and educational video content to uplift my peers and students. My research is geared toward understanding the reasons behind the attrition of teachers who work with students with emotional and behavioral disorders. My goal is to be able to find ways to improve the academic and social outcomes for the disadvantaged students they serve. Have news to share? ?We'd love to hear from you! As a fourth generation Seminole, I knew Florida State was the institution that would allow me to pursue my dreams, challenge my thoughts and build relationships that will last far beyond Tully Gymnasium. The FSU College of Education's master's in Sport Management program provides students with the opportunity to combine a renowned classroom experience with hands on field experience. FSU Sport Management has established incredible relationships with sport organizations from every level and continually promotes mentorship between current students and alumni. The sports industry connects individuals from all across the world and all walks of life with a common passion. Sport allows us to experience nearly every emotion in a single venue which is what led me to select Sport Management as my major. About the Program: Our sport management program teaches business skills, facility and event management, marketing and promotion, field research and more. Supported by renowned faculty members, you will gain hands-on experience and mentorship. What separates us from other sport management programs is the close relationships with many successful alumni and sport organizations. These connections provide professional experience for our students in various forms (graduate assistantships, internship/volunteer partnerships, class/conference speakers, etc.). These factors have helped Florida State earn the title of "Best Sport Management Master's" in the U.S. from College Choice. I currently serve as the Homecoming graduate assistant for the Office of Student Organizations & Involvement, where I advise an amazing group of student leaders to execute FSU's oldest tradition. My reason for pursuing Higher Education is simple: I am passionate about creating access to higher education for historically marginalized communities. This is shown in my research interests, which include understanding the impact of higher education policy on Black student experiences, hiring practices of people of color within the field of student affairs, and leadership perceptions & efficacy of multiracial students. About the Program: Established in 1957, the Florida State University Higher Education program boasts a long tradition of preparing students for successful careers. Faculty members and students regularly disseminate research on higher education policy issues at the national, state, and institutional level. Our program focuses on three central pillars: Student Success, Leadership, and Social Justice, and is situated in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
