The first bell of the day rings at a local school, and a voice blares over the intercom, asking students to rise from their seats and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. This is a familiar practice to students across the United States, since most states currently require schools to recite the pledge at the beginning of each day. And yet, some students opt out of the ritual, choosing instead to remain seated, or stand but stay silent. I looked into a few different majors when I started my freshman year, but I decided to choose Sport Management once I realized it was what I was most passionate about. As I learned more about the program and the opportunities it provides, I knew this was exactly where I should be. Now, almost two years later, I can say that it was definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made. The faculty truly care about the topics they teach and are always willing to help outside of the classroom. The program has opened so many doors for me and has positioned me toward a career path that I am truly passionate about. After I graduate this spring, I plan to return in the fall to start my master?s in Sport Management. Continuing my education in the top Sport Management program in the country will allow me to gain more experience in the industry and to be better prepared for my career. With so many different areas of the sport industry, this will give me the opportunity to continue to learn about potential areas of interest that could influence where I work after graduation.
