From smho at fsu.edu Wed Jul 24 11:52:30 2019 From: smho at fsu.edu (Shuyuan Ho) Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2019 15:52:30 +0000 Subject: [FSU iSchool-msit] Special topic course on Cyber Defense Operations Message-ID: Hi everyone, Hope everyone is having a nice summer! As the fall semester is coming up, I'd like to make sure everyone knows about a special topic course on Cyber Defense Operations and Incident Response (LIS5916/LIS4930) being newly offered in the Fall 2019. This course is a one-time offer, and will prepare you with Cyber Defense Operational Concepts and Technical Experience. The class will meet face-to-face at 3:35pm-4:50pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at WJB 2010. This course will provide you with practical experience on computer incident handling, diagnostic reporting, incident response, and cyber defense operations. You will gain experience in forming and being part of effective, cohesive and efficient cyber defense teams. Moreover, you will be grouped as teams to configure and secure various types of information systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Redhat Linux, and Palo Alto Networks firewall) that provide on-demand services within an organizational setting. A copy of the tentative course schedule is attached to this email. I welcome both undergraduate seniors, and graduate students from all disciplines. You will not want to miss this course if you are in MSIT, BSIT, computer criminology, or computer science. Please contact iSchool Advising by sending an email to > if you have questions about registering the class. These courses tend to fill quickly, so register now if you are interested. Looking forward to seeing many of you in the Fall 2019.
