<div class="">Sculpture 2 is designed to teach and develop formal and conceptual sculpture making skills. Assignments will address certain fabrication techniques and concepts. The purpose of this course is to build upon the skills acquired in Sculpture 1
and related courses and to investigate traditional and alternative techniques. This course will also investigate other processes and mediums related to the sculpture discipline to include video, sound, light, digital media, performance, etc. Offered twice
per year.</div>

<div class=""><span style="font-family: Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" class="">Students in this course will consider the fascinating history of electronic and robotic art while learning the technical skills required to create their own responsive,
interactive, and robotic sculptures. The title of the course comes from a 1972 dissertation from an FSU doctoral student, examining the ways in which we can thoughtfully and critically analyze "Automated Sculptural Systems." We will examine historical works
from this genre as well as their contemporary analogues. Students will learn tools and techniques required to make sculptures that observe and respond to information about their surroundings. To do this, we will find ways to combine electronics and mechanisms
with traditional sculptural techniques and processes. Speculative design, robotic art, interactivity, sound and installation art are all topics that will be explored through this Special Topics sculpture course.</span></div>

<div class=""><span class="" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" class=""><span class="">This course introduces students to various mold making and casting techniques and materials (plastics, rubber, plasters,
wax, etc). Processes and materials for making an object appear to be made of a different material (faux techniques) will also be introduced. We will focus on the conceptual and practical benefits and challenges of making through iteration (repetition) through
multiples and "faked materials". Assignments will be designed to support and advance each artist’s research interests. Class time will be used for discussions, formal and informal critiques, demonstrations, presentations, and independent work as time allows.
