<pre style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Consolas;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">The University’s mandatory First Day Non-Attendance Drop policy is in effect for</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"> the first week of Spring 2024 classes<span style="color: black;">. The use of different delivery methods for</span> Spring 2024 <span style="color: black;">classes does not remove this requirement. <b>Dropping students for first day non-attendance is necessary in order for the university to remain in compliance with Federal Financial Aid regulations (and students expect it).</b> This policy requires all faculty and instructional staff to take attendance at the first class meeting of the semester. This policy is non-discretionary and applies to all classes, regardless of campus, space availability in the class, delivery method, course level, and/or academic unit offering the class.</span></span></pre>

As a reminder<span style="color: black;">, <b>‘attendance’ means making contact with the instructor as specified by the instructor at the start of the term</b>. There are a number of ways this contact can be achieved. One way instructors can take first day
