Working with natural materials to create bio-pigment, Cahill?s paintings become intertwined with the landscape through color, texture, and emotion as she creates visceral, bold works dedicated to place. This event is free and open to the public. Kari Cahill creates abstract landscapes from materials harvested from and processes found within the landscape itself. Her talk may appeal to anyone interested in: abstraction as a political gesture foraging as artistic practice and resource for artistic production broader themes of art and ecology -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Again, this is all happening this week. I'm attaching cv's for each and strongly support the suggestion to attend as you are able. While I know adding yet another thing directly before Spring Break and in the midst of our own candidate visits for the Photo + Moving Image and Foundations searches is tough, the MoFA Director is an incredibly important position. MoFA is the venue for our MFA exhibitions, one of the only places locally our students can see contemporary art in person, our faculty frequently make use of it for their teaching and creative research, and their sponsorship and co-sponsorship of visiting artists and scholars has been one of our principal tools for connecting us with larger art worlds and its discourses. These meetings are our opportunity to hear from and ask questions of those being considered for this very important role. Again, cv's are attached, and here's the schedule: Wednesday, March 6: Hannah Israel Thursday, March 7: Kaylee Spencer Friday, March 8: John Fields Their presentations will all be from 3:00 - 4:00 pm in MoFA, with informal conversation with audience members scheduled until 4:30.
