Dear Instructors,



Thank you to everyone who has submitted student work thus far.



We are in need of examples of final projects. Please submit any work samples before leaving for the holiday. Remember, we are looking for 3-5 examples of projects from each of your courses and would like to see some of those as final projects. If you have more - great - we'll take them!



I know it?s a busy time for everyone, and I appreciate all of your efforts in helping to make this NASAD visit a success.

As a friendly reminder, here are the instructions for dropping off work:





Submitting Physical Work



When dropping off work, remember to:

(1) fill out the paper form (there are forms in all locations)

(2) scan the form's QR code and input all information



To make things easier for you and your instructors, we have several drop-off locations:



  1.  Art office (recommend calling ahead to make sure someone is there ? 850-644-3147)
  2.  Adjunct office on the 4th floor of FAB
  3.  ATL for those teaching in Painting/Drawing
  4.  KRB for those teaching in Printmaking

The form will accept multiple files (e.g. for installation view, different angles, detail view, etc.). However, please submit a separate form for each individual student work. Grade rosters for the Fall 2023 Regular, IF0-IF3, LAW, and NAP sessions are now open. For now, please continue to visit the myFSU Student Central help website for how-to topics related to grade rosters: http://www.sc.my.fsu.edu/faculty/how/use-grade-rosters-faculty-center.



Fall 2023 grades for the Regular, IF0-IF3, and NAP sessions will be due Tuesday, 19 December 2023, at 4:00 p.m. ET.*

The grade submission deadline for all other sessions is as follows: PA3 ? Wed., 06 December 2023, at 4:00 p.m. ET; PA1-PA2 ? Thurs., 14 December 2023, at 4:00 p.m. ET; LAW, MD1-MD4 ? Wed., 03 January 2024, at 4:00 p.m. ET

Student Screening at Cap City Video Lounge on Monday, Dec. 4th


Please join me in celebrating this fall?s work by video art students at a special screening this evening, Monday, Dec. 4th, at Cap City Video Lounge in Railroad Square (map below). We are thrilled to have David Rodriguez<https://claviluxarchival.com/about/>, who curated last spring's found footage exhibition at MoFA, on hand to select his favorite from these short works of sound and appropriation.


An update on timing: We'll gather for celebratory snacks while student videos play on the lounge monitor at 6:30 pm and then move to the screening room at 7 pm for what will be an hour or less of short pieces.

Online Grades are DUE by Tuesday, December 19 at 4 p.m.



If you are new to this process or need a refresher, follow these steps to submit your grades:



  *   Go to www.my.fsu.edu<http://www.my.fsu.edu/> and log in using your FSUID and password.
  *   From the left side of the portal page, choose Teaching -> Faculty Center to get to My Schedule.
  *   Click the Grade Roster icon (which looks like a small person lecturing) next to the class whose grades you want to submit. The ?Go? button should light up after a few moments.
  *   Click the Go button to access the grade roster.
  *   Click the Roster Grade drop-down next to the student?s name and select their grade.
     *   NOTE: a dialog box may continually appear as you enter grades reminding you that you have unsaved data. This is normal. Once you have entered all of the grades you intend to enter in one sitting, you can click Save to dismiss this.
  *   The Grade Roster Action drop-down at the top of the roster will always be in the Not Reviewed status by default. You must change this status manually in order to submit your grades. Please remember to change the Approval Status to Approved. Your grades are not submitted if this is not done.

Exhibition runs: December 16, 2023 ? March 23, 2024
Reception: Saturday, January 20, 2024, 5?7pm at Gadsden Arts

Sam McCoy and Christopher Rivera explore Southern landscapes in this series of plein-air paintings. Each has taken a different approach while painting from scenes that they observe. Drawing inspiration from lush Florida?s landscapes, McCoy attempts to communicate the many complexities of the state?s tourist culture. Conversely, Rivera explores the connection between on-screen media and popular culture, using found video and imagery to inspire hyper-realistic landscape paintings. Through their art, the artists aim to encourage viewers to ponder their own relationships with nature.

Both McCoy and Rivera graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BFA in 2018 and an MFA from Florida State University in 2021. McCoy is currently the Artist Programs Manager at Thomasville Center for the Arts in Thomasville, GA. Rivera is the Sculpture Lab Studio Manager and Studio Art Adjunct at Florida State University.

Hi All,

By a unanimous vote from over half the faculty, the departmental attendance policy has been approved. We'll work on scaling this for different syllabi footprints in the days ahead, but the content of the attached should be incorporated into your syllabi, effective this Spring.

As a reminder - Area Heads and Directors, all syllabi from your areas/programs should be reviewed and sent to Celeste by January 8, 2024. Faculty and instructors, please plan to have yours sent to the appropriate Area Head/Director the week before.

If you believe you should have 'Approve' access but do not see that as an option in the Approval Status drop-down box on your grade roster, please check with your academic unit's scheduler who can change it as required.
