Message-ID: <558F5388-47CA-4828-B02C-4854A4A1B034@fsu.edu> Dear Friends and Colleagues, Join us to celebrate the release of our video created last June at Maclay Gardens. We highlighted solar powered handheld lamps created by Elias Olafur Eliasson, founder of Little Sun, LittleSun.org a partner on my Hurricane Go-Pack Project. Over 50 people came together from our community to perform an artwork about sustainability and the consequences of global warming in our N. Florida landscape. The video is 5-minutes long and will play every 15-20 minutes starting at 7pm at Blue Tavern this Thursday night. Hope to see you there! -holly [cid:9DCAEBAA-CA73-482F-91F9-9B87A3EA232E] [cid:F5C0CE49-70F5-4B72-BD1F-D25B27A1D303] [cid:AB650477-1054-4412-84AE-FC14E01DCC3C] -Holly Holly Hanessian Professor of Art Graduate Director Department of Art Florida State University She/her/hers www.hollyhanessian.com @haha.works ?They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds.? - Mexican Proverb -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... This year, we want to showcase the design talents of our incredible students by allowing them to design the FSU Alumni Association Holiday Card. At the bottom of the page on the website link below is the submission portal for this contest, as well as the contest?s rules document. Submissions for this contest are due on Friday, October 14 at 5 p.m. and the winner will be announced on Friday, October 28. https://alumni.fsu.edu/saa-events If you can, would you please spread this information around your college to the appropriate people and share with any students that might be interested in participating in the contest? It would be great experience for the students to practice their graphic design skills! It could even be a fun extra credit project, as well. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Please take the precautions necessary to keep you and yours safe. Particularly if you are new to the area or haven?t lived through a hurricane before, we encourage you to reach out to those who?ve been here for a while or the Art Office with questions or for support. While we remain hopeful that the storm's effects on Tallahassee will be minimal, all reputable projections show that Florida will receive a direct hit from what will be a major hurricane. Our students and their families will be affected. A little bit of concern expressed in advance of the storm will go a long way. Also, faculty and instructors - while we would never suggest you relax standards, please recognize the impacts of homes and livelihoods lost as you consider attendance and late submission policies for your affected students. We absolutely acknowledge that as a community, we've been through a lot recently. We will get through this as well - all the better if we continue to demonstrate the compassion, consideration, and support for one another that we've shown in the past. Thanks, and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
